  • The role of Project Forwarding can involve carrying out pre-contract investigations to choose the best mode of transport. Suitable transport may include submersible barges, pontoons or heavy logistics vehicles.
  • Working in Project Freight may sometimes mean infrastructure will need to be created or changed – such as widening roads, strengthening bridges or building bypasses.
  • A worker in the role of a Project Forwarder will also need to ensure their projects comply with HM Customs, shipping regulations, quality requirements and safety procedures.
  • A Project Forwarder will need to coordinate the administration and operational procedures for their project team.
  • They may need to support team members across different areas of the company during busy periods.
  • They will be responsible for coordinating logistics services and communicating with different logistics service providers.
  • A Project Forwarder has to ensure that all projects are run in accordance with company policies and procedures. Workers in this role also need to ensure that projects are completed to a client’s satisfaction, including meeting cost, schedule and contractual requirements.
  • A Project Forwarder needs to ensure their financial and administrative files comply with their company’s standards. They will regularly need to source pricing for rate and quote requests.
